MindCymru
- Sahara
Mind is the leading mental health charity in England and Wales. It
has a presence in Wales through the work of MindCymru and a network
of over 20 affiliated local Mind associations based in Wales. Sahara
is a network of mental health service users, carers, workers and people
with an interest in Black and Ethnic Minority mental health. This MindCymru
network has a co-ordinated approach to improving the response to and
experiences of Black and Ethnic Minority people with mental health problems
in Wales. It aims to break down isolation for BME workers and service-users,
to promote culturally appropriate services, improve access to mental
health services, encourage a BME service user voice and develop good
practice in provision of services.

The aim of MEWN Swansea is to provide support for black and minority
ethnic women and to develop an agenda of action to counter the barriers
to form full participation in the Welsh work force and the community.
The Objectives of MEWN Swansea is:-
* To set up multicultural women's centre.
* To empower women from black and ethnic communities and enable them
to develop their own initiatives and participate fully in mainstream
services.
* To provide a regular drop in service for black and ethnic minority
women.
* To establish a training unit for black and ethnic minority women which
offers courses that will help the women to get back into the work force.
