Chinese people living in England are less likely to visit a GP compared
with both the general population and other minority ethnic groups. Their
social support networks are comparatively poor, and racial harassment
appears to be widespread. These are some of the key findings from a
study looking at the health and lifestyles of this small (it comprises
0.28% of the general population) and geographically dispersed community.
The study, which is the most comprehensive and up-to-date source of
information on the Chinese population in England, was commissioned by
the former Health Education Authority (HEA).
